Christmas, for many, is a day to spend with family and loved ones and show how much they are loved. The same is the case for members of Congress, as some spoke to Fox News about their Christmas tradition.

“We always do the same thing. Our tradition is that we celebrate Christmas Eve, so for us, it’s called Nochebuena. And it’s the birth of Jesus, so that’s where family, friends, etc., get together … and then we have a pig roast,” Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) said.
According to Giminez, the pig roast takes hours of preparation and requires outdoor cooking. His sons handle the cooking while he helps out, as “they know how to do it better than I do it,” he said.
House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) also said he spends Christmas with his family. But their day is spent completely away from the kitchen. According to the Minnesota lawmaker, he and his family compete against each other in an annual hockey game.
Emmer, who played hockey in college and was a hockey coach, prefers the friendly competition to any other possible Christmas activity. Per Fox News, the competition comes with an MVP trophy for the winner.
Republican Study Committee Chairman Kevin Hern (R-OK) also spends Christmas with his family – his children and grandchildren.
For people like Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA), what makes Christmas fun is the process of getting the home decorated for the festivities.
Speaking to Fox News, she said, “I love decorating for the holidays. I start decorating for Christmas the second people leave my house on Thanksgiving. Fun fact: I have a massive Nutcracker collection that my mom passed down to me. I added a Sugar Plum Fairy this year.”
