White House physician Kevin O’Connor said in a statement Monday that President Joe Biden has “almost resolved completely” from COVID-19.
O’Connor also wrote in an update released Monday afternoon that “President Biden completed his tenth dose of PAXLOVID this morning. His symptoms have almost resolved completely. His pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and temperature remain absolutely normal. His oxygen saturation continues to be excellent on room air. His lungs remain clear.”
Once President Biden makes a full recovery from his illness, he’s expected to carry out all of his normal functions as the head of state.
Despite the statement release, some experts have raised doubts about O’Connor’s credibility when it comes to the president’s health. Experts say he is unlikely to have presented an entirely accurate account of Biden health troubles, pointing out a long history of White House physicians hiding presidential ailments and saying O’Connor’s record in commercial transactions related to the Biden family undermines his credibility.
This update on Biden’s health has reopened questions on Biden’s declining cognitive abilities and wellbeing. The update comes a day after the president officially announced he would drop out of the presidential race.
In Biden’s words, it was “the best interest of my party and the country.”
“I will speak to the Nation later this week in more detail about my decision,” Biden wrote in a letter of his decision. He later endorsed his vice president, Kamala Harris, to take over the campaign and be recognized at the Democratic National Convention as the Democratic nominee for president.
Biden was last publicly viewed last Wednesday night when he stepped off a plane at the U.S. coastal air base in Dover, Delaware and departed for his home to begin isolation due to exposure from COVID virus.
