Former President Donald Trump endorsed some options for leadership positions within the Republican National Committee on Monday. He recommended North Carolina GOP chair Michael Whatley for longtime RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel and proposed his daughter-in-law Lara Trump as vice chair.

The GOP presidential candidate also recommended that Trump 2024 campaign senior adviser Chris LaCivita fill in the role of the Chief Operating Officer.

Trump has been close to the forefront of the changes being made at the national party committee. According to a Fox News source, he is backing Whatley because he backed Trump on his election fraud claims in 2020.

“Michael has been with me from the beginning, has done a great job in his home state of North Carolina, and is committed to election integrity, which we must have to keep fraud out of our election, so it can’t be stolen,” Trump said during his endorsement.

Whatley, who currently serves as the committee’s general counsel for chairman, also serves as the North Carolina GOP chair, a position he has held since 2019.

As for his proposal for Lara to fill the position of vice chair, Trump announced, “Lara is an extremely talented communicator and is dedicated to all that MAGA stands for. She has told me she wants to accept this challenge and would be GREAT!”

The GOP frontrunner wants LaCivita in the position of chief operating officer as he said of him, “Chris will manage the RNC’s day-to-day operations, so it will become a fighting machine for 2024 and use all the tools available to win for the American people.”

LaCivita once served in the RNC as a senior adviser during the summer and fall of 2016 while Trump was getting elected to the White House.

According to Trump, the three people he recommended are “highly talented, battle-tested, and smart.”

Emphasizing the importance of the RNC having good leadership, he said, “That means helping to ensure fair and transparent elections across the country, getting out the vote everywhere – even in parts of the country where it won’t be easy – and working with my campaign, as the Republican presumptive nominee for President, to win this election and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”
