Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) endorsed former President Donald Trump’s run for president on Tuesday. In an announcement of his decision, he called for the Republican Party to unite around Trump, as he said that is the only way to beat President Joe Biden.

“I have seen enough,” he began. “To beat Biden, Republicans need to unite around a single candidate, and it’s clear that President Trump is Republican voters’ choice. Four more years of failed domestic policies like the Biden Border Crisis and record-high inflation, and failed foreign policies that have emboldened our adversaries and made the world a more dangerous place, must be stopped.”

The Texas congressman went further to express pride in all the Republican Party was able to achieve during Trump’s tenure as president from 2017 to 2021.

“I am proud of our accomplishments in President Trump’s first term, including the confirmation of 234 federal judges, including three members of the United States Supreme Court; passing historic tax reform, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act; unleashing our energy potential; and ushering in the best economy for all Americans in my lifetime,” he stated.

“I will be continuing to work to elect a Republican Senate majority and to elect President Trump in 2024,” he went further.

Cornyn’s endorsement, which would make Trump’s 27th endorsement out of the senate, came the same day Trump won the New Hampshire primary. It also follows fellow state lawmaker, Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) endorsement of the GOP frontrunner last Tuesday.

“I am proud to endorse Donald J. Trump for President. Now is the time for us to unite to oust Joe Biden and save our country from the Democrats’ destructive agenda,” he wrote on X, calling for donations to Trump’s campaign.

During an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, he also voiced his decision to back Trump’s bid for president, as he said that Trump’s victory in Iowa’s caucuses the previous day indicates that the people want Trump.

Saying that the race is already over with Trump’s “dominating victory,” he said “it’s time to move onward to victory in November.
