President Joe Biden’s campaign got actor Robert De Niro to launch a heavy condemnation of former President Donald Trump on Tuesday outside the Manhattan courthouse where closing arguments were to be held that day in Trump’s hush money trial.

Taking his latest criticism of Trump a notch higher, De Niro claimed that Trump’s reelection would damage the American system of government and cause the world as it is to cease to exist.

“Under Trump, this kind of government will perish from the Earth. I don’t mean to scare you. No, no, wait, maybe I do mean to scare you. If Trump returns to the White House, you can kiss these freedoms goodbye that we all take for granted. And elections? Forget about them. That’s over, that’s done. If he gets in, I can tell you right now, he will never leave. He will never leave. You know that. He will never leave,” De Niro stated.

The actor then went on to say that he joined the Biden-Harris campaign “because the only way to preserve our freedoms and hold on to our humanity is to vote for Joe Biden for president.”

De Niro’s karma was swift, as Trump’s supporters heckled him as he left the podium after his remarks. As seen in a video posted on X, he got into a verbal altercation with a man wearing a MAGA hat who called him a “washed up” actor.

“You’re gangsters. You are gangsters! F*ck you!” he told the crowd.

The Biden campaign event was met with widespread criticism, with many chalking it up to an act of desperation and “election interference of the highest order,” as Trump campaign senior adviser Steven Cheung called it.

“Crooked Joe Biden and his campaign are in complete freakout mode,” Cheung said in a press conference held after the Biden campaign event.

Trump campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt also dismissed the attack, saying, “What you just heard from is a desperate and failing and pathetic campaign who knows that they are losing. Joe Biden’s sending his campaign outside of this criminal courthouse is a full-blown concession that this trial is a witch hunt that comes from the top, comes from Joe Biden.”

Conservative political commentators and media pundits also weighed in on the anti-Trump campaign attempt, with GOP strategist Greg Price laughing it off as “absolutely hilarious.”

“They decided it would be great idea to show that Biden isn’t involved in prosecuting his political opponent by having a press conference outside the NYC courtroom where they also got the date wrong on their media advisory,” he wrote, adding, “Their ‘special guests’ were lunatic actor Robert De Niro wearing a mask on an 80 degree spring day four years after covid, one unhinged capitol police officer who lied about everything that happened to him on J6, and another one best known for hitting on 20 year old girls at DC bars.”

“They spent the whole thing getting drowned out by Trump supporters yelling ‘FJB’ and they had to answer questions such as ‘is Trump a threat to all these wars Biden has gotten us in,’” Price continued.

“It’s not a great combination when your campaign is desperate and losing while being run by people with -2 IQ points,” he wrote in a follow-up post.

Trending Politics co-owner Collin Rugg noted that De Niro’s criticism of Trump did not achieve the results intended by the Biden campaign.

“Robert De Niro convinced a total of 0 people to vote for Biden today,” Rugg wrote.
