The controversy President Joe Biden faced over his declaration of Easter Sunday as Transgender Visibility Day was immediately followed by backlash over a claim that transgender-identifying individuals “are made in the image of God.”

In a post on his White House X account o Easter Sunday, he said, “Today, on Transgender Day of Visibility, I have a simple message to all trans Americans: I see you. You are made in the image of God, and you’re worthy of respect and dignity.”

The president’s message did not go down well with many Americans, who took to X to show him the error in his thinking.

Pointing to how wrong the idea that transgender individuals were made in God’s image is, DeSantis communications aide Christina Pushaw wrote, “‘God created man in his own image. . . . male and female he created them.’ Gn 1:27.”

Ben Shapiro wrote, “READ LITERALLY TO THE END OF THE VERSE. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; MALE AND FEMALE HE CREATED THEM. (Genesis 1:27).”

Actor Dean Cain wrote, “If folks are made in the ‘image of God…’ then why all the surgeries and hormones?”

Pro-life advocate Samuel Sey also weighed in, writing, “If you really believed they were made in the image of God, you would encourage them to accept their God-ordained gender.”

“Correctly saying trans people are made in the image of God while simultaneously celebrating these same people for altering God’s perfect & intentional creation is 100% blasphemous. On EASTER nonetheless…’Be not deceived; God is not mocked,’” former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines wrote.

Biden’s White House’s twisting of the Bible comes after the president issued a declaration on Friday that Transgender Day of Visibility will fall on Easter Sunday

“On Transgender Day of Visibility, we honor the extraordinary courage and contributions of transgender Americans and reaffirm our Nation’s commitment to forming a more perfect Union — where all people are created equal and treated equally throughout their lives,” a statement issued by the White House read.

“Today, we send a message to all transgender Americans: You are loved. You are heard. You are understood. You belong. You are America, and my entire Administration and I have your back. NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR., President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim March 31, 2024, as Transgender Day of Visibility,” the statement added.
