Former President Donald Trump took issue with Florida Gov. Ron Desantis’ choice of shoes. Speaking with Breitbart News, he mocked DeSantis for supposedly walking like a duck whenever he wears his cowboy boots with high heel lifts.

“Did you see him walk off the stage in the last debate? He could barely walk,” he said, adding, “I’m a little bit surprised he continues to do it because he had trouble as he walked off the stage in the last debate.”

“Somebody is going to say to him ‘take off those shoes we want to see if they’re high heels.’ He’s going to have no choice but to do it if you had a really good debater. That’s what they’d do because he tries to pretend it doesn’t happen. He walks like a duck.”

Trump has ridiculed DeSantis in the past amid allegations that he wears high-heel lifts in his cowboy boots in order to look taller.

During a campaign event in New Hampshire in November, Trump took a swipe at him while telling supporters that he “wasn’t “wearing lifts” and that he doesn’t “have six inch heels.”

The GOP front runner then pointed to DeSantis’ obvious gait during a GOP primary debate earlier that week. Recounting the moment, he said that the greatest moment of the debate was when the governor was walking off the stage and his cowboy boots gave off a “weird” vibe.

He went further to add, “So they have a high heel outside, but inside you got a big deal going on and he’s walking off the stage like he’s trying to balance himself. I thought he was wearing ice skates.”

The governor has, however, denied wearing height-boosting insoles in his boots. Claiming he was 5-foot-11, he insisted his boots were “standard, off-the-rack Lucchese.” He even rejected a pair of Ferragamos when the host offered him one.

He was not willing to provide any explanation during an interview with Newsmax, as he dismissed the speculations.

“This is no time for foot fetishes. We’ve got serious problems as a country,” he stated.

The Florida governor had taken the opportunity to challenge Trump to participate in the debate, saying, “I know Donald Trump and a lot of his people have been focusing on things like footwear. I’ll tell you this. You know, if Donald Trump can summon the balls to show up to the debate, I’ll wear a boot on my head.”
