Former President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have both signaled that their private meeting last Sunday yielded favorable outcomes.

The meeting, held in Miami, Florida, was reportedly set up by real estate broker Steve Witkoff, a friend of Trump who has a good relationship with DeSantis. According to the New York Times, the two former political rivals “met alone in a private room at Shell Bay” with Witkoff.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump indicated he was satisfied with the meeting.

“I am very happy to have the full and enthusiastic support of Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida. “We had a great meeting yesterday, arranged by mutual friend Steve Witkoff, at his beautiful Shell Bay Club in Hollywood, Florida,” he wrote.

“The conversation mostly concerned how we would work closely together to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Also discussed was the future of Florida, which is FANTASTIC! I greatly appreciate Ron’s support in taking back our Country from the Worst President in the History of the United States. November 5th is a BIG DAY!!!”,” Trump added.

During an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Thursday, DeSantis said that he and Trump connected on several things during the meeting.

“A lot of it was just connecting about things. I mean, look: he’s a dad, he’s got a kid going to college. I’m a dad. I’ve got three young kids in the household. He’s concerned about how my wife was doing. Obviously, she had a cancer scare a couple of years ago. So it was just a good meeting and a good conversation,” DeSantis shared.

While Trump is reportedly seeking DeSantis’ help in fundraising in order to keep up with President Joe Biden’s campaign, DeSantis is hoping to get Trump’s support with the aim of returning to being seen as the future of the Republican Party.

Speaking about his political strategy, the Florida governor said that his team is “going to be active in a variety of capacities throughout the rest of the year to help, you know, not just the top of the ticket, but all around the country.”
