A deadly attack on a boarding school in Russian-controlled Sudzha has sparked conflicting accounts from Ukraine and Russia, with both nations pointing fingers at each other for the devastating strike.
Ukrainian military officials reported that the incident claimed four lives and left four others with severe injuries. Their forces successfully rescued 84 individuals from the destroyed building. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy alleged that Russian forces had targeted the facility where civilians were seeking shelter and preparing to leave the area.
According to Ukraine’s Armed Forces General Staff, those requiring further medical treatment were transported to healthcare facilities within Ukrainian territory.

Countering these claims, Russia’s Defense Ministry issued a statement early Sunday, attributing the attack to Ukrainian forces. They claimed the missiles were launched from Ukraine’s Sumy region.
In a separate incident, the casualty count from a Russian missile attack on a residential building in Poltava climbed to 14, with two children among the deceased. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine confirmed 17 people sustained injuries when the five-story structure was hit.
Ukrainian officials reported that Russia launched 55 drones into their territory overnight. The Air Force successfully intercepted 40 of these unmanned aircraft, while 13 others were reportedly disabled through electronic interference.

In the Kharkiv region, a drone strike resulted in two injuries, according to regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov’s Sunday statement.
Russian defense officials claimed they intercepted five Ukrainian drones over western Russia during the night, with three shot down over Kursk and one each over Belgorod and Bryansk regions.
The drone attacks proved fatal in Belgorod, where regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed one civilian death.
