Democrats in the House refused to condemn the burning of the American flag and chanting of “death to America” by anti-Israel protesters when a reporter asked them about how the protesters caused unrest at the Brooklyn Bridge on Monday.

Speaking to Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), “Anti-Israel protesters blocking the Brooklyn Bridge were burning the American flag and chanting ‘Death to America.’ Do you support that type of protest? Congresswoman, do you support burning the American flag and chanting Death to America?”

Pressley did not respond to the question, refusing to say even a word to the reporter.

The reporter went to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) with the same inquiry, asking, “Does it sound like this is pro-Palestinian or anti-American if they’re burning American flags and chanting Death to America?”

AOC responded but refused to condemn the protests, claiming she has not seen the reports.

“I’m, I’m not privy to–, to, I haven’t seen these reports. I’d have to check for them myself,” she said.

The reporter later asked Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA) about her opinion on the actions of the protesters on the bridge.

Porter refused to answer the questions, with one of her staffers saying, “We’ve gotta get her onto her next event.”

“Are you okay with people burning the American flag?” the reporter probed.

The staffer then said, “If you’d like to follow up with us–”

The reporter pressed, saying, “Are you okay with people chanting Death to America? Congresswoman Porter, are you okay with people chanting Death to America? Is it okay? Do you not have a problem with it?”

Porter refused to answer any of the reporter’s questions even though he pressed her multiple times.

On Monday, hundreds of anti-Israeli protesters took their demonstration to the Brooklyn Bridge at about 3:45 p.m., disrupting traffic on the bridge’s Manhattan-bound side. Same anti-Israeli demonstrations also took place in multiple cities across the United States.

As seen in social media clips, some of them burned American flags. One was also seen yelling, ‘Death to America” and “Death to Israel.”
