After President Joe Biden’s trip to Normandy, France, last week to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) blasted him for treating such a solemn commemoration like another day in politics.

During his “Verdict” podcast with co-host Ben Ferguson, Cruz pointed out that Biden’s White House “does all politics all the time.”

“That’s what they do, they spin, spin, spin. And the two are fundamentally different. You know, I wish they would treat a solemn commemoration like this for what it is, a solemn commemoration, and not treat it as another day of politics,” he stated.

He went on to slam Biden’s policy of appeasement toward Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to the senator, the war erupted due to Biden’s appeasement of Putin.

“Joe Biden gave multibillion dollar gifts to Vladimir Putin when he waived sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, sanctions that I authored, I wrote the legislation. And Putin stopped building that pipeline the day President Trump signed my sanctions legislation into law,” he said.

“If Donald Trump were still in the White House, the war in Ukraine would not have happened. It’s Joe Biden’s weakness that caused the war in Ukraine. And by the way, as much as Biden and Blinken want to see themselves as Churchill and FDR, if there is a World War Two analogy, then Biden is Neville Chamberlain,” Cruz continued.

“He is the one who is weak, he is the appeaser. He is the one who gave billions to Russia. He is the one who gives billions to Iran. He’s the one that constantly showed weakness to our enemies, which is why we went from peace and prosperity, what he inherited three and a half years ago, to two simultaneous wars playing out across the face of the globe,” he added.

Cruz also took to X to slam the Biden administration for politicizing the commemoration.

“Sadly, the Biden administration tried to politicize D-Day by injecting it with domestic politics over Ukraine.”

“In reality, the war in Ukraine only happened because Joe Biden appeased Vladimir Putin and gifted him the Nord Stream 2 pipeline worth multibillions of dollars to Russia. If Donald Trump were president, the war in Ukraine would have never started in the first place. Trump projected strength and stood up to America’s enemies. The world was a safer place because of it,” he added.

During the D-Day event in France, Biden gave a speech stressing the sacrifices made in the name of freedom and democracy. Unsurprisingly, he managed to ignite a social media storm when he seemed to be totally lost for a moment while he stood between his wife and French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron.

After shaking hands with Macron, the American president appeared to be totally lost while he seemingly tried to sit on a chair behind him.
