Former President Donald Trump launched a verbal attack against independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., calling him a “plant” for the Democratic Party.

In a post on Truth Social on Friday, Trump wrote, “RFK Jr. is a Democrat “Plant,” a Radical Left Liberal who’s been put in place in order to help Crooked Joe Biden, the Worst President in the History of the United States, get Re-Elected.”

Warning that voting for Kennedy would be a waste of votes, he added, “A Vote for Junior’ would essentially be a WASTED PROTEST VOTE, that could swing either way, but would only swing against the Democrats if Republicans knew the true story about him.”

The former president then went on to expose Kennedy’s record on issues dear to Republicans such as border security and Second Amendment rights.

“Junior’ is totally Anti-Gun, an Extreme Environmentalist who makes the Green New Scammers look Conservative, a Big Time Taxer and Open Border Advocate, and Anti-Military/Vet,” he wrote.

Kennedy has been a source of concern for the Democratic Party as they worry that he could ruin President Joe Biden’s chances of success by taking voters from him. In order to silence the threat to the incumbent president’s reelection, the Democratic National Committee launched a team last month to actively tackle him with opposition research and legal challenges.

The team has shelled out constant criticism of Kennedy on social media, calling him not only a “spoiler” candidate but a tool for Trump to win.

His unpopularity, however, does not end with the left establishment, as he also threatens to siphon votes from Trump.

Trump’s criticism of the independent candidates comes after a Quinnipiac poll of registered voters from Wednesday shows he had 16% support while Trump and Biden shared 37% each.

The poll, however, shows that more Republican voters find voting for Kennedy favorable than Democrat voters. Only 11% of Democrat voters expressed a favorable opinion of him compared to 44% of Republican voters.
