Former President Donald Trump offered his support to Christian voters at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Nashville on Thursday, when he vowed to defend them against any form of political persecution from the left.

Tearing into the Biden administration for technically waging war against Christians, he said, “They want to silence you, demoralize you, and keep you out of politics. … But Christians, they can’t afford to sit on the sidelines in this fight.”

He then asked for their support, saying, “So today, I come before you as a friend, an ally, and a fellow believer to ask for your help and your support and your prayers for this country. We need your prayers … and I make you a simple promise. In my first term, I fought for Christians harder than any president has done before … and I will fight even harder for Christians with four more years.”

Further making his case that he deserves continued loyalty from Christian voters, the GOP presidential candidate pointed out that he was the first United States president to attend the March for Life, an annual rally against the legality and practice of abortion.

He also touted other wins his administration scored for Christians, including stopping efforts by the IRS to interfere with pastors’ freedom of speech using the Johnson Amendment, convening a United Nations meeting to end religious persecution around the world and issuing guidance to establish the right to freedom of worship in public schools.

Contrasting his support for the pro-life movement with the Biden administration’s embrace of abortion as well as everything woke, Trump stated, “Pro-lifers are now being hunted down by the Biden regime as enemies of the state. Never again will the federal government be used to target religious leaders. Americans of faith are not dangers to our country, they are the soul of our country.”

Trump then promised to set up a new task force if he is elected president so that all discrimination and harassment against Christians across America can be thoroughly investigated.

Criticizing the attack on monuments of America’s Founding Fathers and other iconic Americans, the GOP frontrunner promised that “nobody will be touching the cross of Christ under the Trump administration.”

“We will protect God in our public square,” he emphasized.

Blasting Biden and pointing out why he is is a better fit that the 81-year-old president, Trump said, “We have an incompetent president who does not know what the hell he’s doing, he will not lead us to the promised land. The restoration of law in this country begins with firing crooked Joe Biden.”
