Malcolm X’s daughters have initiated legal action against multiple government agencies, claiming their involvement in their father’s 1965 assassination and subsequent cover-up efforts.

The lawsuit, filed by three of Malcolm X’s daughters representing themselves and his estate, targets the Department of Justice, CIA, FBI, and NYPD. They assert these organizations orchestrated a conspiracy leading to their father’s death at Manhattan’s Audubon Ballroom, according to TMZ. The legal documents contend these institutions were aware of serious threats against Malcolm X before his murder but failed to act.

The family’s lawsuit specifically points to former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover’s actions, claiming he authorized illegal surveillance of Malcolm X and deliberately weakened his security detail, leaving the civil rights leader vulnerable to attack. They maintain Hoover had prior knowledge of the impending assassination.

The legal filing further alleges that federal agents manipulated witnesses with incorrect information and deliberately concealed evidence about their knowledge of the assassination plot. The family seeks damages exceeding $100 million through this lawsuit.

When approached for comment about these allegations, the FBI responded by stating, “It’s the standard practice to decline to comment on ongoing litigation.” Both the CIA and NYPD have yet to provide any response to these serious claims.
