A transgender Canadian individual faces charges after allegedly attacking two children with a knife and later sharing details about the incident on social media, despite being granted release following the initial arrest.

The suspect, Michael Attwood, 35, who identifies as “Alice,” was charged with aggravated assault following an incident in Grande Prairie, Alberta, on February 19. According to Global News Canada, Attwood was released with conditions after appearing before a Justice of the Peace, with a scheduled court date for March 13.

The attack left two children injured – a seven-year-old with minor knife wounds and an eight-year-old with severe injuries. The Western Standard reports that the more seriously injured child is currently receiving treatment at Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary, suffering from a severed esophagus that will require feeding tube assistance for several months.

According to archived reports from the Western Standard, Attwood, who stands at 6 feet 7 inches and weighs 250 pounds, was initially held in a psychiatric ward but was released after approximately 26 hours. This information was later removed due to a Canadian publication ban.

Following the incident, Attwood took to social media, making several posts about the situation. In one post, accompanied by a selfie, Attwood wrote, “I’m pretty sure I met a queen in emergency tonight. She was so beautiful. And I just had these ratty old clothes on.”

Addressing the incident directly in another post, Attwood stated, “For obvious reasons I’m going to sit and stay silent on the locally viral rumours going around. I understand people’s upset (trust it’s not as high as my own) and I’m going to answer for what I did.”

The post continued, “When I can see the picture more clearly then I will be here to hold myself accountable as well. It’s just … not the right time for that.”

In a subsequent message, Attwood wrote about focusing on personal mental health, stating, “I need to focus on my mental health and finding the WHY to this happening … which means not being online.”

The Western Standard describes Attwood as a self-proclaimed spiritual and life coach who practices Usui Holy Fire III Reiki and studies quantum healing hypnosis techniques while also working as an oracle reader.

The decision to release Attwood has raised concerns within the community, particularly given the severity of the injuries sustained by one of the children and the disturbing nature of the social media posts following the incident.
