Joe Biden’s top allies and campaign aides are privately acknowledging that the 81-year-old president has no chance of winning reelection as they fret about how to convince him not to run again — and fear dragging down other Democrats on their ballot.
They told NBC News that Biden is now a dead man walking — the rate of his probability of winning standing at 0 percent and he’s doing more damage to other Democratic candidates.
“He needs to drop out,” a Biden campaign official said. “He will never recover from this.”
In a newly released poll, the majority of voters no longer believe that Joe Biden has the mental capacity to serve as president following his disastrous debate performance at the end of last month against former President Donald Trump.
Despite efforts, Biden’s answers in a subsequent ABC News interview and live press conference did not stem the tide of Democrat lawmakers calling on him to drop out of the race.

His campaign allies and supportive outside groups are widely pressuring him to depart, according to the report.
A second source working to re-elect Biden agreed, “No one involved in the effort thinks he has a path.”
Several other sources told the publication something similar, though everyone requested anonymity to avoid being charged with “thinking about doing more harm” against Biden.
One top strategists for a Democrat presidential campaign told the outlet that multiple data indicators were flashing red lights on their effort, all of which would be clear to Biden and his team if they couldn’t put it off due to late-night shows he was set to premiere.
“We have this window and the White House is just running out the clock, which is so selfish,” the person said. “We’re all waiting around for Joe Biden to f*** up again, which is not a great position to be in.”
With fundraising slowing for Biden, his campaign has also begun conducting polling to test how Vice President Kamala Harris holds up in a contest-to-the-death with Trump.
