Democratic Strategist Calls Harris ‘IDIOTIC’
According to Democratic strategist James Carville, 2020 Democratic presidential contender Vice President Kamala Harris was shown going “through some laundry list of idiotic” things in a Wednesday interview with PBS’s “Firing Line” that was released on Friday.
“According to host Margaret Hoover, if you ran this campaign, you would know Republicans are honing their critique of Vice President Harris for being too progressive. They cite her 2020 campaign, in which she promises to ban offshore drilling and fracking and eliminate the filibuster to pass the Green New Deal. She had previously supported providing healthcare to unauthorized immigrants and dissolving Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Republicans and the Trump campaign will call her too leftist. How would you advise her as a candidate now?”
“Well, first of all, I don’t know how many business leaders said that Trump’s economic plans would ruin the economy,” he remarked. “Would you bet that retired military and national security specialists never openly label Trump a severe threat to US security? I’m not sure how to tell you that he wants to leave NATO. Twenty-six women have fairly accused him of sexual misconduct. Only one side plays. Republicans are thought to be the only ones who play this game, and Democrats will passively watch them exploit them. I will not play that game, and I hope she does not, either. How should she handle charges that she’s too progressive?” Hoover replied. “Must she run as a centrist?”
“I can’t—do you want me to respond to everyone?” Carville replied. More fracking licenses have been issued under Biden than under any other administration. It’s true, but I’m not convinced it’s an accomplishment. Crime has dropped in the US since Trump took office. That’s true. We can argue anything.
“So, you’re saying she should run as a centrist, not a progressive?” Hoover interrupted.
“She’ll have to propose,” Carville said. “Going back in time can reveal anything someone said they regret. That should be easy. Her ability to identify herself will be crucial, though. Because she’s not well-known, she may need to introduce herself.”
He said Harris should run because of her prosecutorial background.
“There’s no doubt her 2020 campaign was god-awful,” he added. “Her dumb strategist told her you can’t talk about being an A.G. or prosecutor. Thus, she didn’t have anything to say. She was just trying several absurd postures. Upon reflection, she’s quite helpful. As a prosecutor and customer-focused A.G., she shouldn’t have any trouble discussing her duties. However, given the current atmosphere, I hope she has improved, as the first signs show. I believe humans can grow. I realize I’m approaching 80. I think I overestimated my talents. Developed some. Now I know. I have something new.”
