Justin Evans, a longtime GOP operative, revealed one move that Republicans feared could have cost them the White House.

President Joe Biden ended his campaign on Sunday and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as his replacement. Since then, Harris has gained most of the necessary delegates needed to secure the Democratic 2024 ticket.

However, Evans revealed that former first lady Michelle Obama was the Democratic candidate Republicans feared most as former President Donald Trump’s opponent.

Evans, in an interview with the Daily Mail, insisted that Democrats made a mistake when they backed Harris against Trump. Evans, who worked as a director of special projects for his 2024 presidential run and remains an advisor to the campaign, maintained that the decision means the election, which will now be an easy victory for Trump.

“Kamala is a very weak candidate who is closely tied to the White House and Biden agenda,” Evans said. “We don’t even need to rewrite the playbook which we would’ve needed to do with someone outside of the direct White House circles like Michelle. Kamala doesn’t change the scenario in any significant way as other new candidates would have. We viewed Biden as dead in the water and think she is as well.”

Evans noted that the vice president has a long track record going back nearly 20 years, first as district attorney for San Francisco, then as California attorney general, senator and vice president of the United States.

“It’s a record that’s filled with a lot of weaknesses,” Evans said. “There’s a lot of information already available about her, including videos. She was a disaster as the border czar, which is going to be a huge issue, and so is the fact that she clearly has been hiding the situation about Biden’s mental frailty, and that’s damaging. She also already ran for president once and her campaign was a complete failure, she didn’t win a single delegate and dropped out before a vote was cast.”

Evans, however, noted that Trump would still have beaten Michelle

‘We are confident we could have beaten Michelle as well,” Evans added. “But she would have been easily the most competitive.”
