A$AP Rocky and Rihanna are planning to name their future child after their legal savior Joe Tacopina, according to the attorney who recently secured the rapper’s acquittal.
Following the not guilty verdict in A$AP Rocky’s firearms assault case on Wednesday, Tacopina revealed to Extra that the celebrity couple made him a touching promise about their next addition to the family, who would join their two sons RZA, 2, and Riot, 1.
“They grabbed me and they said, ‘Listen, our next baby A$AP Joe,’” Tacopina told Extra. “I said, ‘I’m gonna hold you to that!'”

The high-stakes trial, which lasted nearly four weeks, could have resulted in a 24-year prison sentence for the 36-year-old rapper over an alleged 2021 confrontation with former associate A$AP Relli.
The courtroom erupted with emotion when the verdict was announced, with Rocky – born Rakim Mayers – nearly fainting as he embraced his legal team before turning to acknowledge Rihanna and his supporters in the front row.
Tacopina recounted a nerve-wracking moment during the verdict reading when Rocky began celebrating prematurely after the first count. The attorney had to quickly intervene, concerned about the second pending count, though his confidence in the outcome proved well-founded.

The lawyer emphasized how the gravity of the situation affected his client, explaining that Rocky was facing the possibility of either returning home to his children or beginning a lengthy prison term that very day.
Describing their post-verdict interaction, Tacopina shared that Rocky expressed profound gratitude, saying, “Joe, I want you to know, I know how hard you fought here. I know everything you’ve done, and I just appreciate you so much.”
The attorney was particularly moved by Rocky’s thoughtfulness in such an intense moment, noting the rapper’s ability to express appreciation despite the circumstances.
Rihanna, 37, also shared her relief through social media, posting an Instagram Story to her 150 million followers that read: “THE GLORY BELONGS TO GOD AND GOD ALONE. THANKFUL, HUMBLED BY HIS MERCY!”
