A Tennessee federal judge has released McKenzie McClure, an alleged cyberstalker who identifies as transgender, after she made threatening remarks toward a Christian school.

McClure, who identifies as a man and goes by the name Kalvin McClure, made a concerning phone call to Christ Presbyterian Academy (CPA) in Nashville this past March. The call came just days before the anniversary of the Covenant School shooting, where a transgender woman killed six people, including three nine-year-old children.

A former student of CPA, McClure left a voicemail referencing a Marvel movie in which a character returns to an abusive orphanage and kills the headmaster. The voicemail alarmed school officials, prompting CPA and nearby Currey Ingram Academy to close the following day. A month later, federal agents arrested McClure on charges of alleged cyberstalking.

Security footage from the school also captured McClure walking across the campus making obscene gestures in the days leading up to her arrest.

Recently, U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Chip Frensley ordered McClure’s release from federal custody. The judge considered the testimony of mental health professionals from Pasadena Villa, a mental health facility in East Tennessee where McClure had been held. According to the professionals, McClure is now adhering to her medication regimen, no longer experiencing delusions, and feels remorseful for her actions.

One CPA parent expressed concerns, stating that he urged the court to keep McClure in custody. “I didn’t think there would be any response that could stop her if she was determined,” he told The Tennessee Star.

McClure will now receive outpatient care while residing with her parents near the school.

In addition to the threatening call, McClure has a history of making troubling social media posts. In one post on X, she wrote, “Also Bill Lee knows if he makes one wrong move it’s Joever for him and my 4th grade teacher… i.e., his WIFE.” In another, she stated, “I’m here. I’m QUEER. GET USED TO IT.”
