Ukraine has earmarked $2.7 million for expert consulting services to help shape a proposed minerals agreement with the United States, according to official government documentation released on April 8.

The initiative comes after President Donald Trump suggested that a minerals partnership could pave the way for peace by giving the United States a financial interest in Ukraine’s development, while also providing an avenue to recover the substantial aid previously provided to Ukraine.

Recent developments include an updated and more comprehensive draft proposal from Washington, as reported by Reuters in March.

The Ukrainian government is actively seeking specialists and legal experts to safeguard Ukraine’s interests and develop a strategic position that aligns with both countries’ legal frameworks, as outlined in the government document.

The allocated funds will be split between the economic and justice departments, with officials aiming to secure consultants who possess extensive experience in managing public debt, external borrowing, and top-tier international legal expertise. The recruitment process is scheduled to conclude by April 15.

In a recent development, Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced that Ukrainian representatives will travel to Washington this week to further discussions on the strategic agreement draft.
