David Frum of The Atlantic blamed Trump and his followers for the recent assassination attempt, less than 24 hours after the violent incident.

“The Gunman and the Would-Be Dictator,” the headline read. The subheading also read, “Violence stalks the president who has rejoiced in violence to others.”

In the article, Frum contended that Trump provoked the insurrection, stating “fascism feasts on violence,” and as such it was seen included in part of the tab he had run up encouraging others to be violent.

After Trump was rushed at a rally in Pennsylvania on the same day and Frum tweeted that it could very well have been “an assault like none before,” he conveniently forgot the attempted high-five from history to pretend not to know who had attacked him.

“Trump and his supporters envision a new place for violence as their defining political message in the 2024 election,” the political commentator wrote. “Fascist movements are secular religions. Like all religions, they offer martyrs as their proof of truth. The Mussolini movement in Italy built imposing monuments to its fallen comrades. The Trump movement now improves on that: The leader himself will be the martyr in chief, his own blood the basis for his bid for power and vengeance.”

However, Democrats and Republicans have since publicly condemned the violence against Trump and Frum’s article.

“David Frum needs help. In every way,” Joe Concha commented.

“They are still trying to get Trump killed,” The Blaze’s Auron McIntyre added.

“Former Bush 43 political appointees with Trump derangement are some of the most pathetic, delusional, and self-righteous people in politics. Blaming Trump and his family for his near assassination? @davidfrum definitely wins the trophy with this one. Truly a douche bag,” Mike Davis posted.

The Daily Wire’s Megan Basham added, “You literally just published an essay saying Trump had it coming less than 24 hours after an assassin missed taking Trump’s life by millimeters. People are disgusted by what you wrote in @TheAtlantic because it was disgusting. You are not the victim here. Sit down.”
