Prince Harry has apparently approached a range of ex-royal aides with plans to ‘rehabilitate’ his public image going forward, new reports reveal.
The Duke of Sussex — who will celebrate his 40th birthday next week on the show, to air as part of a four-film series in September — is understood to be becoming fed up with his Hollywood flacks and now wants UK help in restoring him to public favor.
Harry is understood to have spoken with old friends in the UK via palace insiders, according to The Times. A source told the Daily Mail: “Harry is looking for advice from a completely different group of people than he used to turn to.”
“Especially if he’s reaching out means ‘Okay, now am I doing something that [doesn’t work]…’? He’s essentially just re-evaluating how he does his thing,” the source concluded.
Though unlikely to return permanently, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appear intent on making amends with the royal family.
Harry is understood to have reached out to an unidentified one of his former comms staff who has a reputation as “old school” when it comes to keeping schtum, apparently no part in with what’s disingenuously known across The Firm as Operation Bring Harry In From The Cold.
According to the same report two also said Harry had been in touch with his ex private secretary, Edward Lane Fox.
“If anyone can do it, Edward can. Last time I saw him I wanted to take him by the shoulders and say, ‘Ed, please bring our boy home’. It’s the right time now,” a source told the outlet.
We still don’t know all the details of Harry’s plans, although it has been speculated he would undertake some very low-key royal duties.
A Fox spokesman said: “It’s not something I’ve got a view on I’m afraid.”
The news follows word that Prince Harry attended a funeral gathering for his uncle last week, the first time he and brother prince William have had to face each other amid their ongoing rift. While Harry had initially thought of missing the event over safety fears, he ultimately decided to attend a low key memorial service.
It was the first time both estranged brothers had been in the same room since King Charles’ May 2023 coronation.
