The Department of Defense is implementing a comprehensive removal of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) content from its digital platforms, following a new directive issued by Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell.

The directive, labeled “Digital Content Refresh,” requires all Department components to eliminate DEI-related news articles, photographs, and videos from their official websites and social media channels by March 5, 2025. The mandate specifically targets content promoting critical race theory, gender ideology, and any materials advocating for preferential treatment based on demographic characteristics.

The scope of the removal extends to content that contradicts merit-based policies or emphasizes immutable characteristics such as race, ethnicity, or sex. Additionally, materials promoting cultural awareness months will be discontinued, aligning with Secretary Hegseth’s recent memorandum titled “Identity Months Dead at DoD.”

According to documentation obtained by Breitbart News, certain content will be exempt from this directive. Excluded materials include information legally required to be public and content related to standard operational activities. This encompasses base operations updates, leadership biographies, DoD Education Activity communications, and information about Morale, Welfare, and Recreation services.

All removed content must be properly archived according to established records management protocols. The Department has established a process for components to register objections to specific content removals, with submissions due by the March 5, 2025 deadline.
