The Vice President’s niece, Meena Harris, is doing the behind-the-scenes work to produce a play with Dylan Mulvaney as its executive poet-in-residence in an effort to get trans stories and queer joy into mainstream media.
On Friday, Meena Harris shared on Instagram that she is a “producing partner” in Mulvaney’s upcoming one-woman show in all caps.
Mulvaney rose to fame after creating social media videos exploring “womanhood.”
White House officials have questioned Meena Harris, a nearly 700K Instagram influencer with arguably her biggest following thanks to nepotism.
White House lawyers even warned Meena Harris that her “behavior needs to change” in January after Biden was sworn into office, the LA Times reported.
After the 2020 election, Meena Harris was informed by lawyers at her aunt’s own White House not to make merchandise featuring Kamala Harris’ name or likeness because it violated ethics rules — advice she seemed willing and eager to ignore on both counts.
Meena, for example, apparently took a private jet (with the new Biden donor) to the inauguration while posting on Instagram about it.
“But even after the briefing with ethics lawyers, Meena flew to the inauguration on a private plane with a Biden donor and posted about the trip on Instagram, which was first reported by Politico. She launched a production company that produced a video with a political group to celebrate her aunt. And she collaborated on special-edition Beats by Dre headphones that used a slogan popularized by Kamala Harris,” the Times reported.
Anonymous draws from within Kamala Harris’s orbit complained to the media that ethics rules were enforced more stringently on Harris’ family than President Joe Biden and his son/brother.
