Tim Walz and his children helped deliver the Democratic vice presidential nomination to former first lady Jill Biden on Wednesday night at the Democratic National Convention.

He took the stage and offered their support, touting what he says are Minnesota values with a simple observation: “Minnesota is built on ‘mind your own damn business.’”

Walz’s ex-football players walked onto the stage, in a lighthearted moment of solidarity. U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) also appeared, using humor to laud Walz as well.

“A former football coach knows how to level the playing field, and a former public school teacher knows how to school the likes of JD Vance.”

Oprah Winfrey, who offered a metaphor about putting out the fire in Trump’s house whether it was burning or not while making veiled jabs at Senator JD Vance R-OH. This prompted former President Donald Trump to post a letter he got from Winfrey in January 2000 apologizing that they weren’t running for office at the same time.

Earlier, there was a minor spat over whether or not Governor Josh Shapiro would speak, but he ended up taking the stage, saying that Democrats represented “real freedom,” in response to criticisms of lockdowns during the pandemic.

The Trump War Room account also offered a response to comments from Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Vice President Kamala Harris attacking the current administration on economic difficulties, border security and international pressures.

On his way to the stage in Atlanta, former President Bill Clinton quipped about how much older he is than Trump.

Citing the Constitution and quoting from part of the Pledge of Allegiance, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries sang Biden’s praises as he blasted former President Trump. Radio host Tony Katz derided Jeffries’ speech as a book report that wasn’t quite ready.

Asked by CNN if she feared a future Republican administration would roll back LGBTQ rights, including the right to marry years after states’ bans were lifted and SCOTUS recognized marriage equality nationwide as an impermissible violation of Equal Protection, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel expressed her concerns.

“I’ve got a message for the Republicans and the Justices of the United States Supreme Court, you can pry this wedding band from my cold, dead, gay hand,” she shouted.

Meanwhile, hundreds of protesters outside the gathering in Chicago clashed with law enforcement and were irate over Israeli policies.

Jon Polin & Rachel Goldberg, parents of an Israeli-American hostage held by Hamas in Pakistan, got the crowd on their feet chanting “Bring them home” as events for the evening unfolded.
