Michael Rapaport, known for his outspoken criticism of former President Donald Trump, has shifted his stance considerably, particularly regarding Trump’s recent proposal for U.S. intervention in Gaza. The actor and comedian expressed support for Trump’s suggestion that America should take control of the Gaza Strip following the relocation of Palestinian residents.

This marks a significant evolution in Rapaport’s political position, as he’s moved from being a fierce Trump critic to adopting a more balanced perspective. While maintaining discretion about his voting intentions for 2024, Rapaport has demonstrated increasing alignment with certain Republican positions.

The catalyst for Rapaport’s political transformation stems from his concerns about rising antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiment within the Democratic Party, particularly following Hamas’s October 7 attack. His commitment to these issues led him to visit Israel, where he even performed for Israeli audiences.

Addressing Trump’s controversial proposal for U.S. control over Gaza, Rapaport defended the idea, suggesting that previous peace initiatives had proven ineffective. He particularly criticized pro-Palestinian activists who showed support for the October 7 attacks, firmly stating: “You don’t get no state for that!”

“If you’re more offended by the idea of the United States taking over Gaza than what you have seen with your own eyes, for decade after decade, from October 7th, even now — sometimes you have to learn the f*cking hard way.”
